How to train your memory to remember names at lightening speed – part 1?

January 29th, 2009

What is memory?
Is one of the six higher faculties of the mind. It is a very important factor in improving your relationships. You have a perfect memory. It is just that you have not known this or you have forgotten. Everyone has a perfect memory, but we go around saying we have bad memory.

Seeing Vs observing
There is a big difference between these two. To prove my point I would like to ask you a question. Which light is on top of the traffic light? ….. Ok is it red or green. Studies have shown that the majority of people get this question wrong, yet traffic lights are things that we see every day. Probably you crossed one less that an hour ago. Yes, there is a world of difference between seeing and observing. My point is Memory is about observation. We observe with our eyes (sight) or ears (hearing)

Association
In as far as memory is concerned; association is defined as connecting or tying up two or more things to each other. For you to remember something you must observe and then associate it with or to something you already know or remember.

Habit

For you to have a trained memory you must make it a habit to remember. Your memory is like a muscle. It must be exercised and developed. So make a habit of exercising and developing your memory.

Trust, confidence, interest
Some one once said: the true art of memory is the art of attention. To easily remember you must have interest, trust, and confidence in yourself

Exercise
Please read the following words for one minute. Minimize you browser window and see if you can memorize all of these words in sequence.

Carpet, paper, bottle, bed, fish, chair, window, telephone, cigarette, nail

Good, how did you do? In the next post I will show you how to put this tips into practice and memorize the words easily and quickly.

Kind regards,
